This is a scarce set of WWI M1917 Marching shoes, which are well marked but without a complete date we can see. This model of shoe saw heavy service in the U. S. Army during WWI, having replaced the Model 1912 Russet shoes. They are matched, size 7 . Both shoes retains their laces but both laces have some fraying as shown. They both have markings that are very clear: W. H. McELWAIN COMPANY 7 EE H 2071 BOSTON DEPOT
